The 2010 Mary Ann Fisher Summer Concert Series

You don't have to drive 400 miles south to get real blues, because we are bringing it to you right here in Russellville.   Two legendary blues artists from the Mississippi Delta will perform on June 5th .   The opening act will be MISSISSIPPI MILLIE, who will bring her 50 years of singing the blues to our stage, featuring slide guitarist, TIGER GAGAN.   Then you will be entertained by  MR. L. C. ULMER  has been playing the blues for over 70 years and is known as the "Shake It" man.  He's a fascinating and unique man, and we are lucky to have him coming to Kentucky to perform. 








On June 19th the GRADY CHAMPION BAND from Jackson, Mississippi will be playing at KP Hall beginning at 8 pm.   Grady and his band just won the 2010 International Blues Competition in Memphis.   They just played for 10,000 people at the Chicago  Blues Festival and are able to stop over in Russellville on their way to the largest blues festival in Ohio.   This is a special opportunity.    Please...... don't let this pass you by.




On July 16th  the CHUBBY CARRIER and the BAYOU SWAMP BAND will come to town with their high energy, swamp funky, zydeco sounds straight from Scott, Louisiana.  "There's ain't no party like a Chubby party, because a Chubby party don't stop."   So, get yourself ready for a high energy,  good time party in Russellville   .....  Chubby's coming to town !



August 6th brings in Russellville's very own  MICHAEL GOUGH GROUP, one of south central Kentucky's best known live musical collaborations since 1989, comprised of an all-star ensemble featuring some of the area's most notable musicians.  His new CD, Sing Me Back Home, is due to be released this summer (2010).  This also serves to be the kick-off event for the annual Emancipation Day Celebration, which will continue throughout the August 8th weekend.

The final event will begin early in the afternoon on September 4th and will feature adult and youth GOSPEL CHOIRS from throughout Southern Kentucky.  This will be the second year for this event, which will be the traditional closing event for the summer series.    Check back later for a complete listing of participants.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 




All concerts begin at 7:30 and conclude around 10:00.  Limited seating is provided, and everyone is encouraged to bring their own folding chairs.   Local food and beverage vendors will be on site by late afternoon throughout the concert performances.
